Apple Handling and Storage Tips

Apples will absorb odors of other foods very easily and should be kept away from other foods.

When apples lose their moisture, just slice them up and pour apple juice over them and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.

To keep your apples from turning brown in a recipe sprinkle with lemon juice or dip in pineapple juice.

To avoid wrinkled skin on apples when baking them, just cut a few slits in the skin to allow for expansion or remove a ½-inch horizontal strip of peel from an area around the middle.

Before using frozen apples, thaw for at least 1 hour or more. If you added sugar before freezing, be sure to allow for the sugar when using the apples in a recipe.

Apples store great in the refrigerator. Handle them gently and check for spoiled apples periodically.
